Rachel Anne McAdams was born on 17
November 1978 in London, Ontario, Canada Rachel Anne McAdams was the daughter
of Sandra Kay (Gale), nurse and Lance Frederick McAdams who is a truck driver
and furniture moving company. She is English-, Welsh- -, Irish--, and Scottish.
Rachel began her acting career in her teens and by the age of 13 was performing
in Shakespearean productions at summer theatre camp. She later was able to
graduate with honors , earning a BFA degree in theater at York University. After
appearing in the Disney's The Famous Jett Jackson episode (1998) in which she
was a lead in Slings and Arrows, a Canadian comedy-drama which follows the
struggles and triumphs of an Shakespearean theatre group. In 2003, she was
awarded the Gemini award. Her performance as Regina George, in Mean Girls
(2004), instantly became a top-rated actress on Hollywood's most coveted young
actresses. Following that film, she starred opposite Ryan Gosling as the
romantic drama adaptation of Nicholas Sparks' bestseller The Notebook (2004).
This was a huge hit at the box office , and was the most watched romantic drama
with a young audience. After the film was completed, McAdams and Gosling became
romantically involved and dated through mid-2007. McAdams next showcased her
versatility on the screen with the comedy Wedding Crashers (2005), the thriller
Red Eye (2005), and the holiday-themed drama The Family Stone (2005).McAdams
then explored the independent film world through Married Life (2007), which
premiered at the Toronto Film Festival and also starred Pierce Brosnan, Chris
Cooper and Patricia Clarkson. McAdams was seen in The Lucky Ones (2007) and
State of Play (2008) in State of Play (2008) and The Lucky Ones (2007),
respectively. She also played in the film The Time Traveler's Wife(2009) and
Robert Downey Jr. in Guy Ritchie's international smash Sherlock Holmes (2009).
McAdams was the determined producer for Morning Glory (2010). She also played
the materialistic fiancee Owen Wilson in Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris
(2011). McAdams returned to romantic drama with The Vow (2012), which she
starred opposite Channing Tatum. McAdams plays the lead role in Terrence
Malick’s To the Wonder (2012) alongside Ben Affleck and Noomi Rapacace in Brian
De Palma’s action thriller Passion (2012).
