Emma Watson

Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was the daughter of British parents Jacqueline Luesby, a lawyer, as well as Chris Watson, a teacher in Paris, France. At age five, she relocated to Oxfordshire and went to Dragon School. At the age of six, Emma knew that she wanted to be an actor and, for a period of years, she studied at the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts, a part-time theatre school in which she learned to sing, dance and acting. Emma was discovered by her Oxford theatre instructor who introduced casting representatives to Emma. After eight continuous auditions the producer David Heyman told Emma and co-applicants, Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint that they had been chosen to play the three lead characters, Hermione Granger, Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. Emma's first screen appearance in a cinema was with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001). The film broke records in opening day sales and weekend take-offs and was the top-grossing movie of 2001. Reviewers praised the film and the performances of three young actors who were the most prominent. The Daily Telegraph, a British newspaper that is widely distributed, praised Emma's performance as "admirable." Emma received five awards for her performance in the movie, including the Young Artist Award, for the most outstanding Young Actress In the feature Film. Following the debut film of the highly popular franchise, Emma became one of the most famous actresses in the world. Emma continued to play the role of Hermione Granger for nearly 10 years, in all the following Harry Potter films: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001), Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002), Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004), Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005), Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007), Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009), Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 (2010) as well as Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 (2011). Emma acquired two Critics' Choice Awards nominations from the Broadcast Film Critics Association for her performance in Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban and Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire.
