Zachary Galifianakis

Zachary Knight Galifianakis (Greek pronunciation 01 October 1969) was an American actor, comedian musician, writer, and comedian. He was also a guest on Comedy Central Presents and hosted Late World With Zach on VH1. Galifianakis has been in films like The Hangover trilogy (2009-2013), Due Date (2010), The Campaign (2012), Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) (2014) and Masterminds (2016). Galifianakis has also voiced characters in animated films such as Puss In Boots (2011) and The Lego Batman Movie (2017). He also voices Missing Link (2019) and Ron's Gone Wrong (2211). Galifianakis currently hosts the Funny or Die website talk show Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis. He was a regular on FX's series Baskets. In 2017, he was nominated to win the Primetime Emmy Award in Outstanding Lead Actor in the Comedy Series. Zachary Knight Galifianakis was a native of Wilkesboro, North Carolina on October 1st 1970. His mother is English-Irish as well as Scottish, while his paternal grandparents are Greek immigrants from Crete. He was baptized according the Greek Orthodox faith of his father. He is the father of Merritt and his younger sister and Greg who is his older brother. The cousin of his Nick Galifianakis (Washington Post cartoonist) is his uncle. Galifianakis went to Wilkes Central High School. Then, he attended North Carolina State University and majored in communications. Galifianakis interned at a local radio station in college. He taught waltz in 1991 when he met Mary J. Blige. Galifianakis joined Saturday Night Live two weeks after his TV debut with Boston Common. He's stated "I worked on Saturday Night Live for two weeks. Britney Spears hosted the show for one week while I was there. I sketched a picture. Will Ferrell was to be her bodyguard at her belly button. We planned to shrink Will to make him become an abdominal button. ...she was staring at me when I explained the idea to her. Then she says "Wow, that's funny.'" Galifianakis starred in Out Cold and also had roles in Corky Romano and Below, Bubble Boy and Heartbreakers.
